The smell and new formula suck
I ve used Kerastase over the years and my favorite has always been the old Chroma line (reflection chromatique) and decided to try this new line. To my surprise, the smell makes my eyes tear and this new formula makes my hair dry, stiff and frizzy! I bought the product with eyes-closed, since, give or take, any Kerastase product is wonderful. But this is just horrible. Save your money.

I think the product works well of colour and thick hair. It has to be paired with the conditioner as well. The mask could be a little heavy for the hair but it detangles it pretty well

Not very impressed
Tried this product was recommended the fact I have an oily scalp and dry ends. Definitely felt like it gave me a good clean on my scalp and I could go a couple days between washes and lengths felt fine didn’t feel dry but didn’t feel nourished either. Using this product every time I washed I did notice more hair fall than normal so that wasn’t a plus. I wouldn’t try this product again.

Reformulated & WORSE
The old formula was much less harsh and much more effective. This formula contains actual lye soap. I think we all know what soap does to the hair. This company has sold out to the fear-mongering misinformation that parabens are somehow unhealthy ingredients to have in haircare. They are absolutely one of the safest and most gentle preservatives that can be found. What has now happened is that products are unnecessarily reformulated to actually become more harsh on the hair (and skin) using chemicals that are ironically making your experience and possibly health worse! L’Oréal who owns this company is one of the leaders in cosmetic science and they know very well that parabens are MORE THAN SAFE. Instead of spending tons of money reformulating and relaunching products they should use those funds to educate the public about the safety of parabens.

Disappointing product update - Would not recommen
Disappointed in the change from the old bottle and different formula of the Bain Chroma line. I had not actually looked too closely at the version I was purchasing and only upon receipt did I notice the difference in bottle and quality of the product, which is now distinctly less pleasant in smell and efficacy when I wash my hair. I fear that this is a means of cost cutting in the formula changes as I have since seen similar reviews posted here.

I love this shampoo as it is great for people like me who wash their hair thrice a week. It cleans your hair well without over-drying it. I have used this shampoo for years. It's really expensive in the US though, I don't know why it is so different from European and Asian prices (I previously lived in Germany and India where it is significantly cheaper).

The best shampoo for color-treated hair!!
I have heavily bleached (and toned) hair and this shampoo cleanses well without drying it. I think it is a little on the thicker side so you don't have to use as much as other shampoos. Because it is sulfate-free, it also doesn't strip the toner out of my hair and allows me to go almost 4 months between color touch-ups.
I can't recommend this shampoo enough to anyone who colors their hair. I like it so much that I give it as gifts to friend/family. Please don't ever reformulate it!

Finally a clean scalp
I’m not one to leave reviews but after using this for 2 months I had to. I used to wash my hair and it would dry looking greasy. With this product - my hair can air dry and actually look so nice. It’s also brought my curls back to life. I can currently go two full days before it starts to look greasy. I’m really happy with this purchase considering it was a little pricey! Worth it

It’s a no for me.
I have long, fine naturally brown hair that is dyed a deep brunette. After my first use of this shampoo and conditioner, my towel-dried hair felt like straw, almost crunchy. I applied the leave-in serum that goes with it and let it air dry. Now that it’s fully dry, it just feels stiff and dry, almost like I have mousse in it. This is the exact opposite effect I was hoping for. I’ve used Kerastase products since 2005. This is the first time I’ve been disappointed.

Saved my scalp
I love this stuff! I have curly hair so I try not to wash too often. When I do I like to shampoo a couple times. I use this first to really clean my scalp, then go back with either a moisturizing or purple shampoo. Love it.

Dislike the smell
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a bottle of Chroma Absolu Bain Chroma Respect Shampoo in exchange for my honest review. I have fine, straight, color treated blonde hair. I am usually very particular with my shampoo and conditioner due to having oily roots, which causes my hair to get weighed down or look greasy very quickly with the wrong products. Typically when a shampoo says hydrating I worry about it causing this kind of issue. This shampoo though seemed to work well and I didn't feel like it caused my hair to get overly greasy or flat. However, I absolutely could not stand the scent of this product. I'm not sure how people can say the scent is light and refreshing. The floral smell of this shampoo is SO STRONG. It gave me a headache most of the day the few times I tried it and it didn't help that the smell lingered in my hair. This may be a positive for some people, but for me it was not. If there was a way to get this unscented or in a different scent I would be able to give more stars as I do feel like it made my hair soft and healthy the few times I used it. Unfortunately I will probably have to give this away due to how much the scent bothered my allergies.

Bain Chroma Respect not for the win
I wanted to love this shampoo but….. The smells is strange but does smell better after your hair is dry. This left my hair feeling very dry and frizzy. The day after using this product, my hair was so greasy and dirty that I could not skip a wash day wish I usually can. Dry shampoo wouldn’t even help. I usually use the Resistance line and will go back to using that. Just wish they made it in a sulfate free formula.

Worse experience
I have an oily scalp and dry hair end. So I decided to buy a 80ml mini bottle of Bain Divalent Balancing Shampoo to fix the issue. After 1st wash, my hair began falling apart, the scalp and hair were extremely dry, much drier than before using this balancing shampoo. I tried 3 times and my hair stopped falling only when I paused using the shampoo. It was not helpful at all, my scalp continued releasing much oil until I have used up the bottle.
I also had bad experience of Potentialiste Hair & Scalp Serum (mini sample sent along with the purchase), there was nothing it could do, except made my scalp felt itchy and hair looked greasy on 2nd day after applying serum on scalp.

Refill ability and shampoo formula
I really liked the older version of shampoo for colour treated hair much better? It required less shampoo. I also wish to get the refill pouches instead of the bottles or more metal bottles. That’s the point of the refill ability. But this shampoo does work well.

Great for color-treated hair

I dye my hair red and noticed that my color stayed vibrant for a longer period of time. I enjoyed the smell. It definitely reminded me of a salon quality product. If you are sensitive to fragrance, I would avoid this product. The packaging is beautiful.
I would avoid this product if you have fine hair. It can definitely give you hair a heavier feeling

The smell is holy grail

Terribly dry
I bought this shampoo along with Chroma Filler Hair Mask and it completely dried my hair. It felt like straw like hair and my scalp was so itchy and flaky. My hair felt weight down and super dry. So disappointed since I was previously using Chronologiste and decided to switch it up and give Chroma a try but it is not it!
