Best in class

I have been using this product for 15 years! It gives my hair a bit of shine and polish, while taming the crazy pieces. There are several dry oil products on the market now…they all want to be Shu Uemura Essence Absolue. Still the best!

Great on towel dried hair!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Gifted by Shu uemure and Influenster in exchange for my honest opinion. This hair oil is fairly lightweight, has a very subtle, pleasant smell, protects against heat, battles frizz, and adds shine! I have used both in my hair that was towel dried and at the end of my styling routine. I prefer to use on wet hair because I think it is slightly too heavy for already dry hair. It did a great job at protecting my hair when blow drying and curling. Also, I noticed that my hair felt silky, smooth all day long, and did not freeze as easily! I think overall this is a very good oil. I just prefer my oil to be a little more lightweight if using on dry hair. However, this did work great on my tile dried hair. I think that directions should be printed on the bottle and packaging. I had to use the website to search if I could use on wet or dry hair or both. Otherwise, the packaging is great and not messy!

Frizz free blonde

Absoltuely repurchasing!

Every other hair oil I've used has helped to make my often dry ends feel smoother but would leave my hair greasy feeling after a day. Shu Uemura is a different story! Totally worth it!

Good, but I expected more…

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using this hair oil for about two weeks now, and I have mixed feelings… The biggest positive is that it’s not greasy at all. It absorbs nicely and doesn’t weigh my hair down, which I really like. It does make my hair look shinier and healthier/smoother, but I noticed that only happens after I style my hair with a blow drier or other hot tools and not immediately after I apply it. I have used other oils that instantly change the texture of my hair and make my ends feel noticeably softer right away. With this one, the effect feels more subtle. For the price, I expected something a little more transformative. It’s not a bad product, but I personally don’t think its worth the price tag compared to other oils that deliver stronger results.

Amazing shine

Great for fine hair

Great hair oil

Absorbs so quickly, makes my hair look and feel he

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used dozen of hair oils over the years as someone who has very dry and often damaged hair, and I truly have not experienced one like this Shu Uemura hair oil. First off, the oil is so unbelievably absorbent! I use two pumps and spread it through my ends, at first the oil sits on top of the hair and then within a minute it absorbs and feels so amazing. It doesnt make my hair look oily or stringy AT ALL instead it adds such a shine to it. Beyond the shine, I do think that this oil has made my hair look so much healthier and shinier even on days I don’t oil it. My hair has become so much stronger, I believe the red camellia oil has reduced a lot of my hair breakage as well. I’ve been using this oil has heat protectant before I blow it out, and my hair looks less frizzy, lasts longer, and has the nice benefit of being a heat protectant as well! Sometimes I’m picky when it comes to the scent of hair oils, but this one has notes of camellia flower that smells so nice and soft. I have straight hair and have been loving this, but I shared it with my best friend who has very curly dry hair and it made her ringlets look amazing too. Overall would highly recommend to anyone who wants a protective, truly powerful hair oil!

Perfect non greasy formula

Overall, it’s not my favorite hair product. It didn’t do much for my hair. It felt relatively the same, dry and flat. I prefer a more lightweight hair oil. Amazing hair oil

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this free for review. This claims to prevent breakage, protect hair, smooth hair and increase shine. I find these claims to be true. It is light weight and does not weigh my hair down. It is infused with Japanese red Camelia oil. It provides heat protection, tames frizz, and hydrates. I use it on damp hair after washing, as well as the next day if my ends feel dry. The scents of orange, Camelia flower, vanilla and musk are very subtle. There are silicones in this oil. However the ingredient list is very small. It comes in a glass bottle with a locking pump. I find it works nicely, controls my static, and frizz. It is a very nice hair oil, but I don't find it too different from other mid range hair oils.

Nice hair oil

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Shu Uemura - Essence Absolute Nourishing Protective Har Oil did a great job hydrating & protecting my hair before & after straightening without making it feel oily. I definitely noticed less frizz after applying the product. It smells really good, which is always a plus! A little goes a long way! I also like that it has a twist close vs a cap to prevent leaking.

Shiny and soft hair!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love a product that does more than just one thing in this hair oil is at! The packaging is simple and easy to use. There’s no struggling to get it out of the pump. It dispenses is the perfect amount but for me I have longer hair so I end up using two pumps. The oil itself is lightweight. There is no sticky or tacky feeling to it. It is easy to apply to my hair and absorbs almost instantly and easy to work through. It makes my hair less frizzy and definitely gives my hair shine! I love that it also offers me heat protection while providing my hair with more moisture! Making it easy to use for a quick pick me up on my hair anywhere I am.

Nice oil

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This oil really is lovely- super fine, light and smells nice and floral. Even though it is a fine oil, you still can use too much on your hair! I have VERY fine hair and the first time I used it I looked a bit oily and flat, but if I just focus on my ends then my hair looks smooth and shiny. I think this will work best on thick hair!

Amazing

This hair oil makes my hair look so shiny! Unlike others it doesn’t weigh my hair down, and I have very fine hair. Love that it’s a glass bottle! Pump doesn’t dispense too much. Protects hair without the oily look!

Not sure how but this nourishing protective hair oil DOES NOT make my hair look or feel like that! I applied more than the recommended pumps to dry hair (middle to ends) and it still didn’t look or feel oily! And once I apply the oil to my hair my hands aren’t oily either! Smells so good but not over overwhelming. Love the bottle it looks expensive, which it is haha! I’ve noticed less split ends and my hair is getting longer! Definitely recommend.

For volume, I keep it off my roots and focus mid lengths to ends, and that gives me movement and polish without flattening everything.
