Great, but not exceptional—and smells nice!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using both the genesis shampoo and conditioner for the past month and I’m really liking it! First of all, it smells great— I’m not great at describing fragrances but it’s almost citrusy? I definitely wouldn’t say this is a super clarifying shampoo. I have very fine hair and I almost always need to double cleanse even without a ton of product build up or oil in my hair. I also find that this shampoo is not as concentrated as my Oribe shampoo, so I need to use much more to get the same effect. Because of that, this product might not work as well for someone with thicker hair. I can’t say that I’ve seen any noticeable changes in breakage or hair fall, but it hasn’t been that long since I’ve started using these, nor do I really expect my shampoo and conditioner to have that much of an effect, since I already use bond repair treatments. Overall, it’s a really nice product, but probably not something I’ll repurchase at this price point.

Smells nice

Bouncing and behaving

Best shampoo I’ve ever used. I’ve tried them all. Smell is light and nice. My hair is medium thick with full curls that settle into big waves next day. This shamp/ conditioner set makes my hair bouncy, shiny and soft.

No funciona en mi cabello delgado y escaso, cambié a la línea Premiere (sin sulfatos) y me resulta mejor porque uso nano keratina para controlar el frizz. Works well

The smell is nice but it fades fast (which is actually wonderful for me because I'm sensitive to fragrances!). The only concern I have is my hair is bleached and fried and it doesn't feel like it has a lot of repairing qualities to it, but it does keep it shiny and soft.

Works as promised!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was extremely excited to try the Kerastase shampoo and conditioner after reading so many good things, and while it performs the benefits it claims, theres pros and cons I've noticed. First of all, the packaging for the shampoo is SO cute. I just hate that it's a twist-off cap. The scent on the shampoo doesn't appeal to me either, and pairing it with the conditioner you just smell like baby powder. The shampoo doesn't lather as well as other shampoos, and it takes a few uses to really feel like my scalp and hair are clean. My hair after drying also doesn't feel soft and silky, but rather clean... and heavy? I can't make it make sense. HOWEVER. As a mother to an infant going through all of the hair trauma, my hair has had SIGNIFICANTLY less shedding and breakage while using this shampoo. I've even noticed some new growth! My scalp also isn't as oily, and I can go longer between washes. The product 110% works as it describes, just with some minor grievances.

The aroma says it all!

Even humid weather can't stop my hair from looking/feeling silk smooth after I use both of these products. When you wash your hair you can feel it working. It's almost a slight cinnamon haze and I have never been sniffed (by people) so much in my life. Everyone says "you smell so good." The only negative is that I can only use it for 2 or 3 washes because it can cause build up, but that doesn't really bother me because I can simply change it up and wash my hair with something else.

Hydrating shampoo

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This hydrating shampoo is great for hair that feels dry. It has a subtle fruity smell which I find pleasant but not overbearing. The packaging could use some work, since you screw the cap off and then pour some out, it is hard to control how much you pour and easy to accidentally pour too much. It is also a bit inconvenient since you need to use both hands, as opposed to a pump bottle which you could use with one hand. The packaging is pretty though, I love the pink color so it will look nice sitting in your shower. As for how it works, it definitely felt very hydrating! I wouldn’t recommend this to someone with an oily scalp, since after washing the shampoo out it didn’t feel stripped clean like how most shampoos feel. It felt almost as if I had used conditioner on my scalp, even though I didn’t. That’s how hydrating it is. This would be great for someone with dry, damaged, or color treated hair for this reason.

Not the right product for me

The scent is light, fragrant, and very pleasant, one of the things I enjoyed most about the products. However, the packaging is a bit frustrating. The caps detach, which makes them annoying to use in the shower, and water tends to get inside the bottles. Almost perfect

It is very cleansing but it doesn't feel stripping which is really nice. It does seem to make my hair feel stronger and less prone to breakage. My one big complaint, which isn't major but it's definitely annoying, is the packaging. It has a screw off top! I do not want to have to completely remove the lid to get any product out. I know that seems kind of ridiculous to complain about, but it is a complaint nonetheless. Otherwise the product is good and I do recommend it.

Second, it almost feels like a clarifying shampoo. When I use it, my hair feels like it does when I use my detox shampoo- very clean but not drying or brittle. After using it consistently, my hair feels softer, looks shinier, and I’ve noticed way less breakage when brushing or styling. The scent is also really lovely—light, fresh, and slightly floral. It makes the whole experience feel luxurious, which is a nice bonus when you’re trying to care for yourself during hormonal changes. I’ve been a devoted of OlaPlex fan for several years now, but have gotten so frustrated with their packaging that I finally decided to leave them for Kerastase. The packaging is better, I will be able to get all of the product out. I’m not crazy about the screw off tops though, that can be challenging with wet hands in the shower, chasing down a top that’s fallen out of your hands. That would be my biggest suggestion is that the top not screw completely off but stay attached to the bottle. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but I genuinely think it’s worth it for the results I’ve seen. If you’re dealing with dryness, breakage, or menopausal hair changes, I’d absolutely recommend this.

Chemical smell, shampoos fine

I have fine hair that is fragile and this has helped so much. I love that it's fortifying and helps prevent breakage. It smells so good but it's not a perfume smell. I just went on vacation and carried it with me. The shampoo and conditioner bottles are a bit compact and easy to pack. I love it!

Underwhelmed

For the price, I expected a noticeable difference in my hair, but I didn’t see any improvement at all. The scent was off to me strange and not something I enjoyed lingering in my hair. Great cleansing shampoo

In the beginning both products smell amazing and they’re easy to use and manageable when following directions. The products themself just made my hair stringy and hard to brush which never happens.

I am a huge lover of almost all things Kerastase, so this was an exciting opportunity to test out a specific product line of theirs that I had not yet tried. I felt this shampoo did an excellent job of cleansing my scalp and hair. It was left feeling strong and supple. It is a clarifying and fortifying shampoo that excels in both regards. The light fragrance was pleasant and not cloying. I will continue to purchase Genesis in the future and I see myself switching on and off between this and the Kerastase Nutritive line to ensure I'm getting a nice balance of protein and moisture in my hair. Kerastase is the very best in haircare. This Genesis formula is no exception. I highly recommend it!

Good hair care, would benefit from a flip top
