Read the directions on the bottle very carefully!
The directions on the bottle CLEARLY state, "Apply to shampooed and towel-dried hair. Leave in for 1-2 minutes. Rinse toughly". So, you're telling me I have to take a shower, towel-dry my hair, apply conditioner, wait1-2 minutes than GET BACK INTO THE SHOWER TO RINSE!!!! That's like taking 2 showers. What working adult has time for that??

We understand how those directions could seem frustrating and time-consuming! The reason we recommend applying to "towel-dried" hair is that our formulas are highly concentrated with active ingredients. When hair is dripping wet, the water fills the hair fiber and can cause the product to slide off or become diluted, preventing it from absorbing deeply. You certainly don't need to step out of the shower or take a second one! To get those salon-grade results efficiently, we simply suggest squeezing the excess water out of your hair with your hands or doing a very quick 5-second blot with a towel before applying the conditioner. This small step ensures the product can penetrate the hair fiber effectively while you finish your shower routine. Overall a fabulous product, I absolutely loved how soft my hair was it was so luxurious, the only trouble was that I didn't realize it had sulfate products in it and I have eczema on my scalp so I had a pretty uncomfortable breakout from it. I didn't see anything about that in the products when I was buying them and I think it should probably be advertised more clearly or perhaps the people who have made the product should consider removing it since it's a pretty common thing people prefer not to have.

We are truly concerned to hear that the product felt impossible to rinse away, as a heavy, "un-rinsable" sensation is often the result of a "diagnosis mismatch" with our most intensive, lipid-rich formulas. When a range like Nutritive or Chronologiste—designed for extreme replenishment—is applied to hair that isn't porous enough to absorb it, the nutrients can sit on the surface, creating that weighted, product-laden feeling. To resolve this, we recommend our "Double Bain" technique: use a very small amount for the first wash to break down oils, and a second to deeply cleanse the fiber, followed by a full sixty-second rinse with lukewarm water. By shifting your ritual to a lighter range like Specifique or Volumifique, and ensuring that any Fondant or Masque is strictly limited to your mid-lengths and ends, we are confident we can restore the airy, weightless suppleness that defines the Kérastase experience.

Too much fragrance
This does volumize, but it doesn't provide enough moisture, so I have to alternate it with other products. The fragrance on this and the shampoo is so strong, it fills the entire floor of my house when I use it, and I can smell it until the next day. I usually use natural products but thought I'd try this for scalp issues. Will not repurchase, the strength of the smell is sickening. I'd always thought of Kerastase as a luxury product, so I wish they'd use higher quality ingredients than overpowering artificial fragrance.

doesn't detangle

Often, volumizing formulas are designed to be extremely light to ensure lift, which means hair that is prone to tangling may require a secondary "Priming" step to perfectly smooth the fiber.

That is very honest and helpful feedback. It sounds like the Genesis Bain Hydra-Fortifiant might be leaning a bit too much into the 'detox' side for your hair type, especially with your highlights. While it’s designed to strengthen the hair fiber to prevent shedding, it doesn’t provide that immediate 'cushiony' moisture or thickness that many people expect from a repair line. Since highlighted straight hair can often feel a bit brittle or flat, you likely need a product that focuses more on 'plumping' the fiber—like the Blond Absolu range—or the Genesis Nutri-Fortifiant version, which offers a much creamier, more moisturizing finish while still addressing hair fall.

Awesome for thin hair

Who has the time!
Not a in shower conditioner. The instruction want you to towel dry hair and the apply to then again rinse out your hair. I don’t notice any difference even after the extra time it takes to apply properly.

Hello, thank you for your honest feedback. We completely understand that the extra step of towel-drying can feel like a lot of effort in a busy routine! The reason our instructions recommend towel-drying is because hair acts like a sponge. When it is completely saturated with water, it cannot absorb the concentrated active ingredients in the mask, causing the product to simply sit on the surface and rinse away. By removing excess water, you allow the formula to penetrate deeply into the hair fiber to provide the 'discipline' and nourishment it’s designed for. We’re sorry to hear that even with the extra effort, you didn't see the results you were looking for. If you prefer a faster routine, we would love to recommend one of our 'Fondants' (conditioners), which are designed for quick application on wet hair while still providing that signature Kérastase finish.
