Magic mask for color treated Brunettes

I finally used a sample gift of this mask and I absolutely LOVED IT!!! It kept my fading highlights subtly toned and cooled down until the refresh service. Why on earth was this amazing product discontinued??? I didn’t get the chance to purchase the full size product. User Beware

I received this masque as a sample package along with my order. The packaging is the same as the other conditioner except for a very thin green line which I did not notice. After using it my highlights are all green!!! If this were St. Patricks Day I might be ok. I shudder to think of my expensive highlights being ruined. One plus (does NOT make up for bad color) is my hair texture felt incredible.

Combats brassiness & conditions!

I have tried many products to protect my brunette hair from becoming "orange" or brassy. This mask conditioner is the best I have used that both combats the brassy AND conditions my hair effectively. Better than expected

I’m genuinely very pleased with this product! I used it once as instructed, and didn’t see much of a difference but the second time, I applied it more like a conditioner and used more product and left it for about 8 minutes and this is how I got the most effective use. I have dyed dark brown hair with heavy red undertones from a previous medium brown color. The red is definitely toned down after the second use.

i got a balayge done on my hair which is black. my hair was starting to get brassy and i did use the purple mask from the blond absolu collection, which did work. but there were still goldish/red undertones, so i decided to use this. and omg i shouldve bought more of these because it did magic to my hair. fixed all my problems. im so sad this is being discontinued but it's 10000% worth it if youre a natural dark burnette who gets balayages 2/3 times per year and do not want to go to the salon to tone it. this does it for you

Helps keep the tone of my hair

I would give this 10 stars!

Read the fine print! It’s not meant for highlighted or blonde hair. It is a green based neutralizing mask for brunettes that tend to pull warmer tones. I have been looking for the perfect coloring conditioner to remove my warm undertones for a long time and this is absolutely phenomenal! My roots never seem to color properly and this mask tones them to the perfect cool brunette. To top it off, it makes my hair feel and smell amazing.

True to word

Opposite result!

I wanted this to work so bad but sadly it did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. My hair actually turned out more red/brassy. The smell was pleasant and the process wasn’t has bad as I thought it would be but unfortunately complete waste of money for me. I have dark brown hair that turns slightly reddish/brassy within weeks of professional coloring so I hoped to use this in between colorings but instead using it sped the process up and flew far past the reddish line and into actual red. Disappointed and wished I tried it sooner so I could have been within return window. Lesson learned.

Different from sample

Made my hair darker and warmer

Bought this to neutralise red tones in my dark brown hair, did a session of 5 mins, nothing changed, then a session of 10 mins, made my hair darker, almost black, also seems like it gave my hair warmer tones instead of cooling down the red tones.

So Far, so Good

I'm a brunette and recently got a half balayage, and the highlights turned orange! I love Kerastase products, but I had doubts about getting this Neutralisant Mask because of all the mixed reviews I read here. But I decided to go for it because most of the bad reviews seemed to be user error problems, and I was right! 1. Some reviews say: It leaves your hands green/blue. Well, duh. It contains blue dyes. Read the ingredients. Every blue/purple shampoo in the market does the same, and that's why this particular product comes with gloves. Use them! I wore white gloves, and they were a bit green after using the masque. 2. Some reviews say: it stains the shower tiles and face! So I was extra careful. Make sure you have time, and you are not in a rush. That's how people get their front head all green. I shampooed my hair and toweled dried a little bit. Then I stepped out of the shower and applied the product from root to end in front of the mirror to make sure I didn't get it on my face. Instructions say to leave it for 5 minutes and left it for 7. I'm considering leaving it for 10 next time for a better result. 3. Bad fragrance? It's not the best fragrance in the world, and definitely not as sexy as most of the Kerastase products, but it is not as bad as I thought it would be. After rinsing it off and applying conditioner or another Kerastase mask, the smell disappears.

Extremely dissapointed

I have natural dark brown hair with very few low lights, this mask turned the lighter strands of my hair into a greenish tone, the smell is very strong, and it stains very easily, good thing it came with gloves to use. I've used it other kerastase masks in the past and never had an issue but oh boy, this one was a totally waste of my money. I do not recommend this product.

Blue stains on my white shower tiles (and face).

Stained my bathroom tiles, hands and face. PLEASE make it abundantly clear that this product is a dye! I had a sample pack and would never imagine a sample hair mask would be a dye. Terrible!

Got this “masque” along with several others as a sample decided to use after a vacation for a moisturizer mask and had no idea that it was in essence a dye. Naturally this is somewhere in the microscopic print on the packet, but none of the Kerastase “masques” have ever been dyes. Why would a free sample be hair dye!!!! this turned my hands and blond hair GREEN! I’m freaking out!!!!! Trying to get an emergency hair appointment tmrw! this was not an expected result from what LOOKED like all the other free samples I’ve received in the past. I’m so upset and this will now cost me a repair hair color….

Life-saver: restores ash tones, cancel brass/red

Recently had a little home hair dye disaster after deciding NOT to go to my colorist for a root lift/single process. [For context, my natural hair is very dark brown and my mid’s and lengths are a light ash brown with platinum highlights (professionally done)]. I tried to dye my dark roots at home, and the result was a brassy reddish blonde mess. In short I was desperate for a fix to the awful reddish blonde look of my root area. Tried a few different glosses, glazes and coloring conditioners (dpHue, Overtone, Schwarzkopf) – none of which were able to eliminate the tacky-looking red/orange tones at my root. My hair looked like a rainbow, and not in a good way. I subsequently discovered the Kerastase Masque Vert Chroma line while searching for something to help me tone down the horrendous red/brassiness. After reading the reviews, I purchased. I tried it today and can happily report that I was able to ash out the horrendous brassy red/orange tone of the roots …and the ash toned mid’s and lengths’ of my hair are still beautifully ash (yes they are a bit darker, but I don’t mind at all). Yes, this will temporarily darken the blonde hair/highlights, but it will also restore those elegant ash tones, and eliminate those garish, tacky red tones. Which is what I wanted! This product did exactly what it said it would, I don’t have to wear a hat or scarf anymore to hide the brassy look of my home-dyed roots. Vert Chroma mask has also made my hair a lot shinier and silky. So grateful for this amazing product – thank you Kérastase! I will 100% re-purchase.

Great product, terrible directions

I got this item as a sample with my order. While LOVE the results, I had no idea you were meant to wear gloves with it. I checked the sample front and back and it said it no where. Imagine my surprise when I realize my forehead and hands were blue after just getting a spray tan. I love the results of the w product and will likely purchase but this should absolutely be labeled on the sample somewhere

Finalement!!!

J'utilise ce produit depuis plusieurs mois maintenant et le résultat est étonnant. Mon cheveux est non coloré, châtain avec une pigmentation rouge très prononcé . Dès la naissance j'étais strawberry blond. Après le premier traitement mon cheveu est devenu plus foncé et une teinte plus froide, la pigmentation rouge moins apparente. Le masque laisse mes cheveux soyeux et souple. Pour ma part je dois faire ce traitement régulièrement voir une fois semaine.

Very impressed! I didn’t realize what a difference color deposit can make to dry hair. I try to color just my roots as much as possible to limit damage to my lengths. This product solves the the problem by keeping my lengths beautiful while not damaging.

WOW! Just amazing

I know how much everyone’s reviews have helped me make a decision so im making this to help you all! I have been using Kerastase for almost 3 years and I finally found my favorite set! One being this amazing Masque, BEWARE it is very dark and runny so apply gently. Bedsores this, its perfect for my dark hair because I have red undertones and when it fades, its a warm brown that I do no like.After using this in the shower, I look like i came back from the salon! Masque vert — BLONDS, BEWARE!

Got this “masque” along with several others as a sample pack for travel and had no idea that it was in essence a dye. Naturally this is somewhere in the microscopic print on the packet, but none of the Kerastase “masques” have ever been dyes. (I’ve enjoyed the purple chroma absolu products for example with no issues.) However this turned my hands and blond hair/hi-lights light blue. It was slightly alarming! (I don’t know if this will come out of my hair at this point. Time will tell. Luckily I don’t freak out easily.) Although my friends say I could now be in a punk band, this was not an expected result from what LOOKED like all the other travel masque packets I’ve always used. Yes, it may say “not for blonds” somewhere, but when you’re traveling you don’t read sample packets that appear to be normal conditioners. Why would you? I would suggest this product — essentially a dye —should be categorized and labeled separately from the term “masque” so it is not confused with a conditioning product!

Not Good

Left my hair very dry and turned my caramel highlights green. I consider myself a brunette, however, be warned….any lighter highlights will take on a green cast. I have used tons of products from this brand. I this this masque would be great, but unfortunately be very careful.

Turned my hair (highlights) green!!

I absolute love Kerastase so I was really excited to see this product and the idea of toning my dark hair color, however the product reacted to my caramel color highlights and turned them dark green, almost grey. I had to go to the salon to get it fixed.

Works great for ashy browns

For keeping the red/orange out of my dark brown ashy highlights, this product works *wonders. 100% you need to use disposable gloves and leave it on a good 5-10 minutes. Purple shampoo is Not for brunettes, you need this stuff.

It took the brassiness out of my hair!

I left it on for more like 15 minutes. Treat it like regular hair dye and USE the gloves provided. Also use vaseline around your hairline to keep your earlobes from getting color on them. I used more of it than I thought I would. I have short hair so it might be pricey for some. But compared to my Sebastian Cellophane this is much better. These photos are unenhanced, taken at different times of the day and I clearly need a haircut. . . but one photo clearly has superior color

I missed the small print about gloves and my hands are now Smurf blue as it some of my scalp, and part of the shower. Maybe my coloured hair is too light for this one and meant for much darker hair than I have. But I would never use this again, my hair doesn’t feel soft and it just made a mess

I use this mask weekly after washing and towel-drying my hair and leave it in for five minutes. It helps my dark brown hair look more cool and neutral toned and makes my hair feel stronger and more hydrated

Less red undertones

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have dark brunette hair but I noticed that I do have red undertones when the light hits it. After using the mask, it made my brunette hair a little bit darker and took out those red orangey tones. Love the look

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Enjoyed this hair mask as well as their other one .this one is ment to help with red undertones . I used it for three weeks and did notice that I had less red undertones than I usually get with my brown hair .the mask also made my hair silky smoothe and gave it a nice shine .
