Not worth the price

First thing it is way too expensive for such a tiny amount. Haven't seen any result and the spray cap doesn't work, it just dribbles out. So you have to remove the cap and put some in your hand and rub it in your hair/scalp. Really!!

Game changer

This serum is a game changer. In just one use, my hair felt thicker, stronger, smoother and with more body. My hair was starting to become limp and thinner as I continued to double process. I have to color my roots every 5 weeks and periodically highlight. The serum recovered my damaged hair to healthy better than any masks.

Izumi Serum

The first time I used the thickening serum I didn't feel a difference but the second use of the serum I did notice a difference. The scent of the serum isn't as nice as their shampoos and conditioner so it can take away from the existing pleasant scent one would have after using their other products. All in all a good product.

Love this for my hair

Fabulous gift idea!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, I have to address the directions. "Apply to dry hair lengths and tips"? WHAT! Why on earth would I dry my hair then apply this VERY watery serum? That obviously made no sense, so I did the only logical thing and applied it to damp, towel-dried hair. I tried it with and without the complementing shampoo/conditioner system to see how it worked and it seemed to behave just as well as using it with or without the whole system. It didn't seem to produce too much of a thicker, noticeable texture, but I did notice more softness and a lot of extra body. Much like the shampoo and the conditioner, I wouldn't purchase this on its own for myself because it just seems like a luxury purchase that doesn't really seem to justify the price point; however, this beautiful glass bottle of serum would be an absolute necessity in gifting the Izumi Tonic system to a wonderful woman in your life.

Smells amazing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this Izumi Tonic Serum it smells amazing, light and fresh not overpowering at all. This serum does not weigh down my hair or leave it greasy. I apply the serum after I have shampoo and condition my hair, while it's damp I apply two pumps of serum to my hands and then evenly spread it to the ends of my hair and most of the bottom half. Once my hair dries it feels healthy, frizz free and smells so good. I've also noticed way less hair fall while using this treatment. I received this product in exchange for an honest review.

Non sticky Serum!

I followed the shampoo with the Izumi Tonic Mask conditioner and Izumi Tonic Serum to get the maximum benefits. The serum has helped repaired my damaged ends. I applied a few pumps of this lightweight serum throughout my the lengths of my hair without touching the roots. The good part is it does not make my hair feel sticky or oily at all. Its lightweight and smells great! I will use these products again in the future and will definitely recommend it to others.

Definitely adds volume!

My hair never tangles but it did until I washed it again. I've since only used about pumps concentrating on the roots and not my ends. My hair definitely has more volume! It does need additional products to reduce frizz and heat protect, so this is not a stand alone product.

I would purchase this serum

Love it!

This is the perfect final step in my hair care routine. I currently use the entire ilink Izumi Line and I could not be happier with the results. My hair is healthier and shinier than it has ever been and has grown almost 4" since starting these products. As far as the serum goes, it feels as though it seals the ends, and adds a great deal of shine. I wouldn't say it feels thicker at all, it's just smooth and soft. A lady recently touched my hair asking if I had extensions because it "sparkled" - It had to have been because of this serum. I can't explain it, it just works.

Light serum that smooths and softens

First time using a serum and I loved it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This serum was great for my thin, fine, damaged hair. The smell was pleasant and the serum felt good in my hair. It was easy to apply and felt light in my hair while conditioning at the same time. It also felt as though it gave my hair more texture/fullness. I've used leave in conditioners in the past, never a serum, and while they may have conditioned/repaired my hair they made my hair feel limp and weighed down. I also used the Izumi Tonic Shampoo and Izumi Tonic Mask conditioner to get the maximum benefits. My hair felt healthy and conditioned and also had more texture to it. My husband commented several times while I used these products (unbeknownst to him) that my hair looked good - thicker. This product was a surprising change from ones I've tried in the past. I will use these products again in the future and will definitely recommend it to others.

Really dries out my hair

Great, but there is learning curve

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have pixie short hair, so I felt there was a learning curve with this product. I feel like it's meant to smooth long hair. With my short hair, only a little was needed. The directions say to use on dry hair, but I used it on damp hair and it left my hair very soft yet it had some body and volume after blow-drying. I tried it on dry hair, and it just didn't work for me. I do love the smell and how it works with blow-drying and styling.

I really like this product so far

Super soft hair

Difficult to Dispense

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The bottle this product comes in is very stylish first of all, it made me feel luxurious. When I tried it for the first time, I felt the bottle size was sleek and it would last a while. Using the serum was not easy for dispensing and the application was messy in my opinion and experience. The serum dropped down the top of the bottle dispenser and I routinely had to try and wipe or off the bottle with my hand. A little bit didn't go a long way. This wasn't easy to apply evenly on my hair or where it's intended to be placed. I didn't notice a strong scent either which is ok and I don't have a preference. It felt like a quality experience and my hair seemed to be treated well by the soft, silky, texture of the conditioner on my hair. After my shower and towel dry, my hair felt nourished and pampered.

REAL GOOD SERUM FOR NATURAL HAIR

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was able to sample the Shu Uemura Art of Hair - Sampling Shu Uemura Izumi Tonic Shampoo, Conditioner, and Serum. First of all I love the scent of all 3 products. I was also excited to try this combo because it contains rice water and I know that rice water does really good on my hair type. For reference I have dry damaged hair. I've been on a natural hair care journey for years now so I usually do a lot of wash and go styles. So when I purchase a conditioner it has to be a conditioner that not only cleanses my hair but something that makes my hair soft, easy to detangle, and keeps my hair tamed til my next wash. These products did that! My natural curly/wavy hair was really soft, smells so good, detangles real easy and my hair was easy to style naturally after it was dried. plus easy to comb, did not look greasy. I used the serum every other day just to keep it more moisturized, detangle everyday and just because I love the softness these products make my hair feel. I don't know but I haven't felt my hair like this in a LOOOONG TIME!!! Ive been using products for yrs on my hair and my hair was still dry amd limp. It was sooo annoying! I'm pretty sure it's the ingredients on these products that are working wonders on my hair. Overall I recommend the combo of the Shu Uemura Izumi Tonic Shampoo, Conditioner, and Serum. Meets all of its promises

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I noticed an immediate difference after using this Japanese inspired, thickening hair serum after the first use. After using the shampoo and conditioning mask in this same line, I waited for my long, fine hair to dry completely as per the instructions and applied a few pumps of this lightweight serum throughout my the lengths of my hair from a few inches passed my roots to the very tips where I was experiencing thinning, dryness, breakage, and split ends. The product absorbed into my strands very quickly, plumping them up, making them feel stronger, and I noticed a significant amount of less breakage while brushing my hair. After the serum fully absorbs and my hair is completely dry again, my hair appeared and felt thicker, softer, smoother, and more radiant. Even my messy bun looks fuller when just throwing it up. This serum has brought back the confidence my hair used to give me when I was younger. The weight of the glass bottle feels comfortable in my hands and the pump style dispenser makes the amount of product that you want easy to control. 10/10 product. Makes my hair happy

Love this serum!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ended up liking this serum much more than I thought I would! The instructions say to apply it to dry hair, so I was admittedly hesitant. I was concerned that this serum would make my hair look weirdly greasy. But it didn't! The serum is much lighter than I thought, and even after being applied to dry hair, my hair didn't look greasy at all. It also didn't make my hair get greasier faster either. After trying it for a full week, I noticed a change in hair thickness, particularly in my trouble spots, like my temples. The smell is also a bit lighter then the shampoo or hair mask.

Good but not great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the entire line of Shu Uemura Izumi Tonic hair products this one was just good. I don't think the serum helped with volume and it sort of made the endings of my hair feel heavy.

I like it, but don't love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a fine product, however it is supposed to be applied to dry hair, which makes my hair feel kind of oily even if I only use a tiny bit. However, it does help smooth my flyaways and split ends and smells nice.

Frizz? Not anymore!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] How does this get rid of my poofy, frizzy hair? I don't know if that is even a claim this product makes? My hair does feel soft and stronger. More than anything, I have noticed that my hair has finally been tamed. It is now in my favorites. If I could choose any hair product this would be the one. Almost running out!

I use it before diffusion with my blow dryer. So far it's my go to when styling my hair. The smell is pleasant too!

I would buy this product again!

It gave me so much volume and gave me the appearance of more hair than I had. I loved the subtle scent and how my hair was shiny and felt healthier. A new staple in my hair care collection

However I could not use it by itself but in conjunction with a cream. My hair becomes very dry without adding a cream. The smell was amazing and the packaging was cute.

Lightweight

Interesting consistency

Works Wonders

I am so glad I go to try this on my hair because the results are amazing. It is not heavy or greasy and my hair looks salon perfect after each wash. Decent Serum

Perfect for my niece and not me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a free sample of the Shampoo. It seemed okay until it caused itchiness and irritation. My niece also used and didn't have a reaction. It made her hair feel silky and smooth. I ended up given her the Shu Uemura Izumi Tonic Shampoo, Conditioner, and Serum since it didn't effect her and she washed her hair in it once a week.

Healed My Hair!

Strength and Volume for Fine, Fragile Hair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have very fine, curly hair that breaks easily so I was really excited to receive the Izumi Tonic Strengthening System (Shampoo, Serum, and Mask) from Shu Uemura Art of Hair for free in exchange for a review! I've been using the products for a couple of weeks now and I believe they deliver on their promise of stronger, thicker hair. The products are very lightweight, which leaves my hair feeling clean and voluminous with no trace of grease, even after a couple of days. It will probably take using the products for a little longer to see if they really prevent breakage, but I think I am starting to notice less hair covering the drain at the end of my showers. The only downside to these products I've noticed is that they leave my thirsty hair feeling dry which has caused my curls to lose some definition. I think going forward I will pair these products with some of my older, more hydrating ones. I want the benefit of stronger, thicker hair without having to sacrifice moisture. Again, fortunately, these products are so lightweight that I don't think I'll have any issues combining them with others. Overall, I would recommend the Izumi Tonic Strengthening System to anyone with fine, fragile hair like mine. In addition to the benefits I listed above, they smell nice and come in elegant containers. I notice a little goes a long way so the products should last a while, and I'm hoping that when it comes time for my next haircut, I won't have to trim away as many inches of split ends.

Easy to use

I don't like multiple product layering. This helped reduce flyaways. Easy to distribute it through my hair without much work or stickiness. There was a light scent I wasn't fond of.

Nothing quite like it

This is a unique serum that is intended to be used on dry hair, which was new to me. The texture was lightweight and very serum-like. I felt that it did help thicken and texturize my hair, and that extra texture helped hairstyles hold longer than usual. I do feel this is meant to be used as a system to get the full effect, but I did feel my hair was thicker, stronger and easier to style.
