Hands-down, best hair product I have ever used

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of the most impressive products I have ever used for my hair. This made my hair healthier than anything I have ever used protection against breakage. Is un parallel it made my hair easily comb and brushable. It doesn’t advertise it, but I know it helped protect against heat styling and my hair growth while using this was noticeable. It also made my hair, shiny and controllable. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. I plan to continue using this product. I haven’t found anything that compares.

Worth a try

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tested this out for a while to see if it really did anything. I have always heard really good things about rice water for your hair. It has a very pleasant scent. I have very sensitive skin and it did not gave me any reaction or skin sensitivity. I have color treated hair, and my ends are very damaged due to bleaching my hair. I do feel like this made my hair, a little shinier, and really helped with my damaged ends. My hair can also be very dry, and I think this helped with hydration. Overall, I do feel like the price point was a little bit high, but worth a try if you have a damaged hair.

I’m not convinced, much less the price

Its instructions are clear and I followed them to the letter, I used it every day after bathing but I still didn’t see any changes... Its price seems high to me so I don’t think I pay something expensive when there are other waters that do help at the same time...

Shiny and smooth hair

While I’ve only been using this product for about 2 weeks, I do feel like my hair is more shiny than before. A hard task for the colder seasons when a lot of the moisture in my hair is gone. I also do think it’s helped prevent breakage. My hair is pretty thick so I don’t know about seeing an increase in hair thickness, but I do like it for its other benefits. Unexpected love

I have tried this product consistently on wash day and have noticed a decrease in breakage! It smells so so so so good which makes it easy to use consistently. Gorgeous hair great product

My Fine Hair Feels Stronger!

Loved the smell and how soft & supported my hair

Great detangler

I will need to get more of this!

At first use, I thought the scent was too strong, and would be overpowering. But after my hair was dried, it left a nice light scent to my hair. I love how lightweight the product is. It didn’t weigh my hair down or leave any residue. After application, it was easy to comb and work through to my roots. I have fine, color treated hair and I’m prone to breakage, so I’m hoping for some great results. After only a few uses, it’s too early to tell how much it’s strengthening my hair. I will keep using for the recommended 28 days in hopes that I see a big difference in hair breakage.

Allergic to it

Not my thing

I have thin, wavy hair and it weighed down my hair and made it greasy by the end of the day. It always leaves this weird sticky residue if you don't blow dry with heat then hit your hair with cold air. I'm probably going to give this away, it was fun to try something new though!

Really helpful with breakage

I have a mix of straight wavy hair and it just made it kind of blah :( Pros: it makes your hair smooth, reduces frizz, and may help thicken hair. The spray applies pretty evenly. Cons: Every time I used this product, my hair felt weighed down. It was straighter than normal and harder to style. The next day it was always noticeably greasier. If you are going for a sleek straight look without frizz, this may be for you. However, your hair may lack oomph.

But, the tonic treatment did not add strength or body and thickness, which is what I was hoping for. The perfumy scent does not appeal to me; I would prefer a roasted rice aroma scent reflecting the rice water. Nevertheless, this product does have some benefits for softness and silkiness. However, the price is a bit high considering it did not produce the benefits I was hoping for the most.

Worth giving a try

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using this for few weeks and realize the improving of softness on my hair. Smells really nice, I love it the most. I have frizzy and dry ends hair, this product's not really help with these problems but I feel my hair got lighter and softer with a fresh lasting scent. Texture is watery and fast absorbing, i like the way it's not make the hair getting oily on the next day even when spray over the scalp.

Amazing product

I have been using this on my hair for about 2 weeks now and I notice a huge difference. I spray it on my hair after I get out of the shower and then I blow dry and style. It leaves my hair looking shiny and feeling so soft. The smell is also amazing. I noticed that I do not have as many split ends as normal now. I use this in place of my leave in conditioner.

Pretty good product

Heat Styling Hero

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have type 4 hair with thicker medium & coarse strands so traditionally I don't gravitate towards spray leave ins. So while using Shu Uemura's Rice Water treatment I wasn't optimistic that it'd be personally enough for my hair type. The spray doesn't mist over a larger surface area like I'd prefer so I just alternated using my hands. It's watery and dried easily on my hair. I did get more stronger strands and great shine but I prefer for everyday leave ins to be more nourishing. So I used this when I'd apply heat and it was best suited in that routine. But that hard unbalanced feeling lingered in my hair and I can be protein sensitive so I'd use this occasionally. Like with seasonal heat styling.

Great performance

Smells amazing

It leaves our hair feeling smooth and silky. I noticed a few split ends on my hair before using this product and once I started using it the split ends weren't as noticeable anymore. Would NOT spend my money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'd like to start of by saying I have course hair. I told a shower and follow the instructions on the bottle sprayed from roots to ends. It did leave a thick feeling on my hair like crunchy. It smelled good but at the same time got a whiff of a fishy smell & no it wasn't me!! I tried for 7 days and came to conclusion it's not for me unfortunately

Love this tonic

Strengthens weak and thin hair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shu uemura Izumi Tonic Strengthening Rice Water Treatment is an amazing hair care product. I have fine and thin hair. I have used this rice water treatment for about a week and noticed that my hair looks and feels better than before. My hair looks healthier, shinier and has more volume. I actually noticed a difference after using it for the first time. The product leaves a nice scent that lasts and I also love how easy it is to use this product - just wash and towel dry your hair and spray and massage the rice water treatment all over hair and then blow dry. Shu uemura sent me a free sample through the BzzAgent sampling program but I will be purchasing another bottle after I run out. I highly recommend this product!

I would buy this product again and again!

Nice scent, but I didn't see any textural hair improvements

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm always hoping to find a new holy Grail product for my hair, and have heard people talk about rinsing their hair with rice water to improve the texture, so was excited to try to this Shu Uemura strengthening tonic. After sampling it, I don't think it's for me, but maybe it would be more beneficial for a different hair type. I liberally spray my hair with it after towel drying for 2 weeks. The treatment has a nice light scent, faintly clean powdery - distant memories of Loves Babysoft spray, if you know what that smelled like. I didn't notice any improvement after 2 weeks of use, and feel like the ends of my hair aren't as soft as they are when I used one of my other typical leave in hair products. The hair near my scalp feels dirtier more quickly, and makes me want to wash my hair one day sooner than I otherwise would. I can't say for certain that the tonic treatment isn't making my hair strands stronger in the long run, but as far as day to day texture and appearance goes, this product was a miss for me.
